& SAFE WATER FOR THE WORLD INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE 8th - 11th
July 2008
Introduction
There are many partnership, alliances networks, and even
individuals existing within the Water, Hygiene and Sanitation
sectors who are striving to provide safe clean water to the poor
disadvantaged communities in the world.
The Clean Water for the
World Team is a group of like-minded people inviting you to
attend a HEALTHY & SAFE WATER FOR THE WORLD INTERNATIONAL
CONFERENCE on 8th -11th JULY 2008, Mubende
1.8 million of these children die from diarrheal illness
due to drinking unclean safe water or ingesting contaminated
food. Diarrhea caused by drinking contaminated water kills more
people than HIV/AIDS or malaria. Diarrhea kills one child every
3 minutes. In today’s world, water is more than a source of
life. Deprivation linked to water is a source of poverty, of
inequality, of social injustice, and of great disparities in
life chances. That is deprivation because water is a human
right - none of us should turn a blind eye to the violation
of human rights. STOP WATER BORNE ILLNESS (WDI). Clean Water For
the World. We believe every individual has power to make a
difference
Health & safe water for the world
conference will provide opportunities for water quality
individuals, donors, organizations, communities engage in
providing clean water for the world; extension and education to
share knowledge and ideas, to identify and update emerging
issues concerning water borne illness through creating networks
internationally. The first Healthy& Safe Water For The World
international conference will focus on experience and actions
from Uganda, but also from all around the world, providing
invaluable lessons learning with the potential to inform local
actions, internationally provide solutions, knowledge to the
problems affecting water, hygiene and sanitation sector. It will
provide a global forum for practitioners, organizations, donors,
agencies, from a wide range of disciplines who are working in
the water and environmental sanitation sectors, to share their
knowledge and experience on the conference them through various
types of presentation, and also through the opportunity to have
personal interaction and the discussion time both formally and
informally. There will be the chance to join in the field and
mission trips to see examples of activities need to be done in
the community and the work done in the community in
CONFERENCE THEMES
The main themes :

·Purified water to prevent diarrhea

·Environmental Sanitation
·Water purifier
Papers and other presentation types
relating to one or more of these themes can be submitted.
Those which relate to topical issues
are particularly encouraged. As part of the main themes, we
invite papers and presentations on the following specific
issues, for potential inclusion in specialist sessions, although
this list is by no means exhaustive.
· Eradicating Waterborne Diarrhea
Illnesses
· Potential benefits and hazards
associated with water marketing and privatization of the water
supply industry
· Scientific studies versus
environmental advocacy for dealing with water treatment, water
quality and health issues, to include emphasis on benefits and
hazards of chlorination or other methods for disinfection,
fluoridation and other water treatment methods
· Growing concerns for drinking water
contamination from pharmaceuticals and other products used to
promote good health in humans and animals
· Land-based management practices
versus enhanced water treatment by utilities to meet drinking
water quality standards for surface sources
· Total sanitation impact and
outcomes · Community-based resource management · Rural water
supply sustainability and impact · Water, sanitation and
vulnerable groups · Water safety plans
· Current practices and policies on
rain water harvesting · Emergency water supply and sanitation
PRESENTATION TYPE
Presentation below can be submitted
· Review papers are an opportunity to
share knowledge based on experience and practice ( approximately
2000 words) reviewed by Clean Water for the World Team and/or
the local organizing committee · Poster presentations and
alternative formats ( includes practical demonstrations,
audio-Visual presentations etc) consideration of those will be
given on a case by case basis. Posters will be displayed at the
conference; other formats will be scheduled into the conference
programme as appropriate; summaries will appear in the
proceedings and you can contact Clean Water for the World team
for further details · Discussion and debates sessions: if you
would like to participate in one of the topics listed below
please contact WDI or RHCF v The role and impact of
international targets, local contribution, Governments and
indicators in sustainable development.

“Clean Water for the World”
We are a group of committed individuals and organizations who
are collaborating to:
1. Raise awareness about
the need for clean and safe water for the world and the
eradication of Waterborne Diarrheal Illnesses (WDI).
2. Raise funds to support grassroots organizations who are
involved in resolving the water problems:
a. education
b. purification of water
c. re-hydration
d. water sources
3. Create global collaboration among organizations and
individuals who want to uplift the mission.
